Einstürzende Neubauten Live in Osnabrück.

The Einstürzende Neubauten, legandary German avantgarde noise band were always on the forefront of experimenting with sound since the early 80’s using everything they could get their hands on as instruments to create new and different sound. A lot of hammers and power tools were used to to hit and grind on all kinds of materials and as a skateboarder you can see or hear a lot of similarities in the sounds that are produced in the act of skateboarding.
A little far fetched? Maybe, but the sound of a truck grinding some pool coping, the sound of the wheels rattling over the tiles on a high speed carve or the sound of the tail slaping down on the coping of a head high body jar or Madonna all sounds like beautyful music in a skaters ear.
So back to January 2017 and the Neubauten concert in Osnabrück, where they performed a best of from the last decades.
So if you have a chance to them live, do it!!! It´s very entertaining experience to see and hear their creative approach to music.

Die Neubauten… Auch wenn sie mir auf Platte oft zu sperrig waren,
ich musste sie endlich mal live sehen!
Umso mehr hab ich mich darüber gefreut das mein Freund Gerd vom Bailgun Magazin mich nach
Osnabrück eingeladen hatte, um die legendären Einstürzenden Neubauten live zu erleben.
Der Abend ging entspannt mit einer Zugfahrt von Münster aus los.
Am Kiosk schnell zwei Bierchen gezwitschert und dann ab in die OsnabrückHalle.
In der großen Vorhalle angekommen strahlte uns das rießige Neubauten Logo,
dass an die Hallenfassade gebeamt wurde erstmal geheimnisvoll an.
Das Publikum, bunt gemischt, aber eher schwarz gekleidet. Darunter neben den üblichen Konzertgängern auch,
Normalos, Künstler, welche die wie Künstler aussahen oder gern aussehen würden oder wären,
viele Punks der ersten Generation, die jüngeren Punks, kennen die Neubauten vielleicht nicht oder wurden von den nicht ganz günstigen Tickets abgeschreckt.
Dann ertönte der Gong und ab in den Konzertsaal. Schnell nochmal ein großes Bierchen geholt und ab auf den nummerierten Sitzplatz.
Die Musiker kamen auf die Bühne und es ging relativ unspektakulär los.
Aber schon da war es eindeutig und glasklar, das große drumherum und eine übertriebene Bühnenshow ist unwichtig.
Es geht um die Musik!!!
Die Neubauten sind gut organisiert, abgeklärt und sicher.
Ernsthafte Künstler und Musiker, die das was sie machen ernst meinen und ernst nehmen.
Soundtechnisch alles absolut top. Bohrmaschinen, Stahlbürsten und was man so erwartet hatte war alles dabei.
Aber es wurde nicht übertrieben. Die klangerzeugenden Utensilien wurden gezielt eingesetzt.
Blixa Bargeld ganz klar der Frontmann der mit seinem kraftvollen Sprechgesang über den Liedern thront.
Viel eingängiger und unkrachiger als ich dachte.
Im großen und ganzen war das ganze Konzert absolut gelungen und ich würde es jederzeit wieder tun.
Ein gelungener Abend.

BANDSALAT featuring Randy Holden
Hello Dear readership. This is the second installment of „Bandsalat“, courtesy of Bailgun. And today we’re bringing you some serious „Stoner Rock“! Randy Holden! It really doesn’t get much heavier than this as far as guitar gnarlers go. One of the first bands he was in was „The Fender IV“ who did this burly rendition of
„Mar Gaya“, a ripping surf guitar instrumental. He went on to play in a bunch of other bands after that, but it wasn’t until he joined Blue Cheer, maybe the first Heavy Metal band, that he really started to stretch his stoner wings. In 1969 he formed a band with one other guy and called it „Population 2“ as it was just the two of them. The record is nearly impossible to to find even on CD, but if you’re into Stoner Rock or heavy duty guitars then you might want to give it a shot. Bandsalat featuring the Gears
Howdy folks, this is the first installment of Bailgun’s „Bandsalat“.
You’ll hear music from pretty much anywhere, from any era and from any genre. Wildly eclectic in other words. We’re going to try to stay away from stuff that everyone already knows about and turn you on to the exotic,
the rare, the forgotten, the far-flung and, yes even the brutal.
So to start with, here’s the one and only album by The Gears, from Huntington Beach, California.
Recorded in 1980, it sounds kind of like a punk record by the Beach Boys, but with some Rockabilly and Blues thrown in. This is the only album they recorded, but it’s a great one. They’ve been playing live around Southern California again lately, so if you get the chance to see them, you should do so.
